DIY denim trends

Cool jeans, jean jackets and other denim staples are at the top of everyone's wish list. But it's hard for me to stomach the expensive price tags on some of the trendiest pieces right now. $250 for a pair of cut-off jean shorts? Thousands of dollars for a designer jacket with some patches on it?

I'm certainly not the craftiest person (I generally prefer store bought to homemade when it comes to my clothes), but more than once I've seen a spendy pair of distressed jeans and thought "I could make that!" So I did! I recreated 5 denim trends for $15 or less with a little help from Seattle Goodwill and Joann Fabric.
